Deep dive

From remote debugging to data discovery, learn how Formant works from top to bottom.

    Service accounts

Service account authentication is necessary to use the Formant cloud SDK. You can create a service account using our webUI or fctl.

    Prerequisite

You can only create service accounts if you are an administrator in your Formant account

    Create Service account from webUI

From the burger menu select Settings  ⇒ Users

To add a new service user, Click on the Add Service User button.

Enter the service account name and assign a role [Admin, Operator, User]. An email address will be created automatically. Copy the credentials to a file safely. This will be the only time that these credentials are displayed.

    Important

Store these credentials in a secure location. This is the only time you will be able to copy this password.

    Create Service account from fctl

Step 1 - Install and initialize fctl - the Formant administrative command line tool, using instructions from our help docs.

Step 2 - Create a service account by running the following command. The default output is in text. It can be modified to allow JSON using -o json

    Example:

fctl create service-account server001 --role administrator

To see more details, run the following:

    fctl create service-account -h

After successfully running this command, fctl will output the required credentials for your service account, including service account email and password.

    Important

Store these credentials in a secure location. This is the only time you will be able to copy this password.
